The practice of torture involves making a person suffer through long periods of time. Before you start on a rampage saying that humans can be really cruel to each other, there were different reasons to torture besides purposely trying to inflict pain. Today, torture is mainly used as an attempt to try to get information, usually involving some form of terrorism. Dating back to even before the medieval times, torture was often used as a form of punishment, and the goal wasn’t always to kill the victim, but instead injure them just enough so that their punishment and scars would send a message to people.
Some of the most shocking methods include the Tiger Bench. It would involve the victim being tied upright to a bench, and bricks would be added to the victim’s feet, elevating their legs while still being bound. Eventually, the legs would break at the time. The Tucker Telephone was a homemade box made from a telephone that could electrocute people. This practice was often used in prisons to reel in disorderly prisoners. The victim is usually tied to a chair, with one wire on the victim’s toe, and the other wire, the “hot” wire, was placed on their genitals, literally shocking and burning their privates and damaging their organs.
The most well-known torture method is waterboarding, where the victim is laying down with a cloth on their face while water gets poured to simulate drowning. The victim usually would go crazy, drown, or have lung damage. This practice dates back to medieval times and is still used today.
Because torture has become a controversial subject, more psychologically based methods have been developed, such as the White Room. The victim is placed in a sensory deprivation room that is completely white, and they are only fed white rice. Eventually, after 15 minutes, the victim will start having hallucinations and seeing things and hearing sounds that don’t exist. This method of torture usually caused the victim to go completely mad. Another psychological torture method is sleep deprivation. The victim is forced to stay awake for several days on end. Now, when the body doesn’t get any sleep, they start hallucinating and there have been accounts of people going into a complete psychosis. Which is worse in your opinion? Physical or psychological torture?
Since we keep talking about medieval times, they implemented torture methods such as the Rack, which involved tying each limb to a wooden frame, which would move apart. This was considered to be one of the most painful methods of torture as it would not only dislocate each limb, but eventually tear the limbs off the victim. And let’s not forget the Pear of Anguish, which was usually stuck in a person’s mouth (or other opening in the body) and by the turn of a crank, the pear expands. When in the mouth, it resulted in busted teeth, a dislocated jaw, and other unpleasant injuries.
These are just a few of the most shocking torture methods. It forces us to wonder about the psychological state of those who invented these methods.

Ten Secret Societies Ruling The World

When we think about secret societies, we tend to think of people dressed in robes, having secret handshakes, secret meetings, and finding out that some of the best known political leaders are members of the said secret group. This can be both cool, and very unsettling because then we realize that perhaps there are more things out of our control than we thought, like voting. When we find out that opposing members of political parties are part of the same secret society, we can’t help but raise any eyebrow. The concept of secret societies have been fictionalized in both books and movies, such as the Priory of Sion in Dan Brown’s “Da Vinci Code” book. However, there is speculation and of course, conspiracy theories, that imply that the Priory of Sion actually exists but that leaders came forward to deny its existence in order to save face.

Sometimes secret societies can infiltrate even the church. For example, the group Opus Dei is an organization of the Catholic Church. Little is known about what goes on during these meetings, but people speculate that major world decisions are made in these meetings, as well as arranging who is going to be the next Pope while the current one is alive and well.

Then there are not-so-secret societies that tend to disturb a large amount of people, such as the Bilderberg Group. While it is well publicized that these meetings are going to happen, they are top secret. Politicians and world leaders all over the world get together and talk about current events. But no one, not even the media is allowed inside. If these people are talking about world events that are relevant to us, then what is the big secret? There have been speculations that major wars and attacks are planned, and negotiations regarding the economy are arranged during these meetings. So, this makes us all wonder, how much control do we really have as commoners?

Speaking of politics, numerous politicians, including a few Presidents, are members of a student club at Yale University called the Skull & Bones. Okay, being a part of a student organization is fairly innocent, but when so many people involved in our world decisions in terms of politics and budget are involved, one must wonder what exactly goes on in these meetings. Were some of the major decisions involving the United States all part of a plan devised by some college students? The world will never know.
Of course, you can’t talk about secret societies without talking about the Freemasons. There is everything you would want in a secret society including secret handshakes, robes, hierarchy, and locations all over the world. If you’re a Freemason, all the other Freemasons around are obligated to help you should you ever find yourself in need. When it comes to twins, seeing double goes much deeper than just appearances. Chances are that you know a set of twins, or you have met a person who says they are a twin. Our society has an odd fascination with twins, mainly because it is both weird and cool to see two sets of one person walking around school or work. Mainstream media has made twins seem like nearly alien-like creatures with special powers. There have been startling stories about twins such as they can feel each other’s emotions and know when the other is in trouble. While the twin phenomenon has been going on for thousands of years, many do not know all that much about twins. For example, the idea of “twin talk”, or a pair of twins developing their own language isn’t that far-fetched. Doctors have discovered that twins will start to develop their own language while learning their native language. Identical twins haven’t been linked to anything connected with genetics or family and seem to happen by chance.

Finally, researchers have been trying to legitimize the “nature vs. nurture” argument by studying a pair of twins separated at birth who were both named James. Both men married and divorced women named Linda, and remarried women named Betty. This has caused to force people to wonder whether our lives are really written out in our genetics.

The Worst Kids Toys Ever Created

When it comes to playing with toys, we all have that magical memory of playing with our favorite toy and how age appropriate it was. Well, maybe we don’t remember the latter, since children are usually rather innocent and don’t tend to think corruptly. But if you’re a parent or has ever watched over a child, keeping their psychological innocence is a pretty big deal. What may seem like an innuendo or a sexual reference in one thing could go completely over a child’s head. However, there are some toys that were released that were definitely not age appropriate, and we’re not talking in terms of safety. Sometimes with these toys, especially the ones in this video, you have to wonder exactly what was going through the company’s mind when they put the toy on the market. Surely it cost them more money to recall the product than to put it on the shelf in the first place. Here are some of the worst kid toys that were ever created.
For example, the Superman Snuggle Pillow had a rather odd feature of having a blow hole over Superman’s mouth that was reminiscent to a blowup doll that you would find in an erotic store. What made manufacturers move forward with this pillow idea remains a mystery that has yet to be discovered. But the pillow was recalled and re-released with no blowhole feature. The next “bad idea” kid toy was a Monkey Obama doll that raised questions about racial sensitivity and whether or not people felt that it was right that Obama was being compared to a monkey. The doll was pulled from the shelves, as it was on the market during his first Presidential campaign.

The next horrible kid toy is the Batman Water Pistol. You had to fill the water up from a plug located on Batman’s butt, and then the trigger to shoot the water was located where Batman’s real trigger would be located. How this product was cleared to be sold, we’ll never know. Speaking of playing with a trigger, the Barbie Corporation released a pregnant Barbie, using teen doll Midge as the subject. Woops. Perhaps if Mattel used an adult Barbie instead of a teenager, and was married, then maybe there wouldn’t have been such a big upset. Along the same lines, Marvel released a Wolverine Hammer that was inflatable, but the hole to blow up the hammer lined up with an image of Wolverine and looked like you were literally “blowing” Wolverine.
If celebrating the death of over 1500 men, women, and children, sounds like a festive addition to your child’s party, then definitely get the Titanic water slide. The slide made headlines and made people question just how politically correct it was to have a slide that looked like the ill-fated Titanic.

Among other kid toys that were completely wrong was the Harry Potter vibrating broomstick, which was a phallic object that vibrated that is supposed to go in between your legs, as well as the dong slide, which really looked like a dong. The company that rented the dong slide out tried to argue that it was train, but it looks absolutely nothing like a train!
